A Garage Door & Starbucks Morning

Ok...let me paint the picture for you... I'm completely ready for work this morning... head out to the garage to leave and the garage door decides to not work.  Well, I should say not work all the way.  It managed to go up about half way... not enough for me to get my car out.  So I push the button again and again.  It just continues to get stuck in the same spot.  So I get a step ladder out, and climb up like I'm going to fix it... HELLO, I don't know anything about garage door openers!  Plus I'm wearing over the knee boots, leggings, a really cute sweater dress and my leopard print coat.  The only thing that could have made this scene any better would have been if my huge orange Prada purse had been hanging from my arm!  So, up the ladder I go… I look at the spot where it seems to be catching and decided that there is nothing wrong and the door is just being stubborn.  Down the ladder, push the button… NOTHING!  Back up the ladder I decided to pull the string so I can open the door manually (see, I do know something about garage doors). I pull the cord and the door slams shut!  I jump off the ladder trying to catch the door before it closes all the way because there is no handle on the inside… NOPE, miss it.  I manage to get the door open and lift it up as far as I can, just enough to get my car out.  I get in my car and realize the door is slowly shutting by itself.  Out of the car, push the door up as far as I can and stand back to watch it fall closed.  This time I lift and jump at the same time thinking I can get enough momentum to keep the door up on the rails and not close… NOPE.  Ok, try again; I’ll just jump higher this time.  By now I’m sure that my neighbors are all watching and laughing, the scene has to be hysterical!  I try the jumping and pushing about 4 more times before I give up.  So, twenty minutes has gone by and I still cannot get out of my garage.  Luckily I remembered that my teenage daughter was asleep inside… so I drag her out of bed and make her hold the door open so I can get out! I then headed straight to Starbucks, after all, the coffee I made is now cold and there is NOTHING that Starbucks cannot make better!
